Directing

It's all about giving people a chance. A new teacher and director started at my high school at the beginning of my third year. We only had a few brief interactions before auditions for the Fall musical, in which I was cast in the ensemble, given understudy opportunities, and selected as one of the assistant directors. How lucky was I to have been trusted with these responsibilities by someone I had just met? I turned this luck into a life-changing learning opportunity, and have grown immensely. Since then, this special human has been my mentor, a lifelong teacher who supports and guides me through the field of professional educational theatre, and I am so thankful.

I love to be that type of person for other students. I love giving chances, providing opportunities, teaching, and supporting all. Another reason I love directing is because of the gift of creating an environment and making it a place people want to be, and to be authentically. I love the way directing provides the chance to take my ideas and the ideas of others and craft them into a beautiful, collaborative, and personal piece of art that we can share with each other and audiences.

The Rose Theater

Goosebumps the Musical:

The Phantom of the Auditorium

Fall 2025

It was a great honor Assistant Directing The Rose Theater's mainstage season production of Goosebumps: The Phantom of the Auditorium alongside Director and Rose Theater Artistic Director Matt Gutschick. This cast featured 10 youth artists and 2 adult artists who all worked together in rehearsals and performances to build the eerie and exciting world of Goosebumps. This process taught me about production administration and directing in a professional setting, and allowed me the space to flex my creative, educational, and logistical muscles. This was a formative experience of my Advanced Fellowship year!

In our Summer youth production camp of Seussical, I had the special opportunity of blocking the song "Alone in the Universe" and choreographing an accompanying ribbon dance. Horton and JoJo split the stage to tell their stories, with their emotional journeys represented by the ribbon dancers.

Madagascar – A Musical Adventure JR.

Summer 2024

I started working on Madagascar during my first weeks at The Rose Theater, when I was an Educational Theater Intern. During this production process, I was introduced to the how The Rose Theater operates, and choreographed musical numbers, such as "Welcome to Me" and "Penguins' Sea Shanty".
